The big fat Indian wedding ceremonies to expect...
Haldi

Where you marinate the bride and groom in turmeric to enhance their natural glow.
Traditionally, the haldi ceremony is performed to protect the couple from any malevolent spirits.
Chooda and kalira ceremony

A lively ceremony with the bride, where she dons the Chooda (red bangles) that are rumoured to sprinkle good luck on the newlyweds! Friends and family tie kaliras to the chooda wishing the bride good luck.
Mehendi

Henna tattoos are thought to bring good luck and prosperity, and according to tradition, the darker the henna stain, the more you are loved - at least what the aunties claim!
Sehrabandi

Sehrabandi is the ceremony where the groom's face is covered by tying a multi-stranded garland to his pagadi (turban). The sehra is considered a symbol of honour, dignity, and celebration. It marks the groom's transformation from a bachelor to a married man and signifies his readiness to embark on the next phase of his life.
Sangeet

The sangeet ceremony is a colourful and energetic Punjabi-north Indian pre-wedding festivity, brimming with dancing and folk songs. It’s our opportunity to let our competitive spirit soar and dazzle everyone with our amazing dance moves!
Saptpadi

Because one lifetime just isn’t enough, so the bride and groom go round and round the mulberry bush (auspicious fire). These are the vows we make to each other, essentially, 7 promises for 7 lifetimes.
